After leaving our friends in TN we drove to Little Rock, Arkansas, our first try at a KOA campsite. Leaving behind the Smoky Mountains and cool, cloudy weather, we crossed the Mississippi River to find long stretches of beautiful farmlands under bright blue skies. We stopped at a Welcome Center where the friendliest ladies loaded us down with information about Arkansas, the kids even got coloring books. I was in love with Arkansas already! (And I wasn't too keen on going there.) The KOA campsite was nice, clean, and we rolled out our tent. After a meal of BBQ pulled-pork sandwiches at a local dig we climbed into our sleeping bags and slept happily...and woke, well, early (as all good campers do)!
