Slab City or The Slabs is a snowbird campsite in the Sonoran Desert used by recreational vehicle owners and squatters from across North America.

It takes its name from the concrete slabs that remain from the abandoned World War II Marine barracks of Camp Dunlap.

The site is both decommissioned and uncontrolled, and there is no charge for parking. The camp has no electricity, no running water, no sewers nor toilets, and no trash pickup service.

Many campers use generators or solar panels to generate electricity.

The temperatures during the summer are unforgiving (as high 48 °C); nonetheless, there is a group of around 150 permanent residents who live in the Slabs all year round.

We've certainly enjoyed reading your Route 66(+) travel exploits. There is much to be admired about our 'Real' American neighbors but also much to be viewed with astonishment & disbelief. If there was enough free paint available, we'
re sure that most of the Southwest US would be coated with gaudy "artwork' and bad grammar!

I had to look up the definition of "Mack" as used in this notice. The term is almost exclusive to males and means, "A person who is talented at attracting people romantically." So, you can't loiter for the purpose of picking up women.

Tacos looks delicious ! . If you have a spray sun block spray both of you hair especially in the heat of sun. Just a little advice from the barber in Beeton it will protect your hair as well.
