Today started off with a trip to the Santa Fe National Cemetary to visit Dave's mom. I was overcome with emotion and I cried. Not only for Dave but just the fact that so many people served our country. After we left there, we headed to Williams, AZ. Destination: Grand Canyon! New Mexico has lots of billboards on I40 and finally we were sucked into stopping at a place after reading 100 billboards about how awesome the place was. The place was called Stewart's. They were offering free petrified wood and a free post card!! Who could pass that up? Well, it ended up being a very interesting stop. The lady running it was in her house shoes and she told us that we could have anything we wanted at 50% off unless it was marked special. Well, 98% of the stuff was marked special. Anyway, Trevor bought a keychain, a ring, and Devin got a flute and thankfully I got out of there spening only $15. We continued to drive and when we got into Arizona we stopped at the Hopi travel station to gas up and eat lunch. This place is really in the middle of nowhere and when

walk into the travel center it's like a little mall. They had a salon, a clothing store, gift shop...it was surprising because it looked like nothing from the outside. When we got into Williams we went down historic route 66 through the middle of town. There were lots of shops and bikers. We finally found our hotel, but google..your map was wrong!! Then we were headed to the Grand Canyon. We stopped in Valle to get our ticket which was a good thing because a lot of cars were waiting when we got there. The weather was perfect. We got on a shuttle that took us to the train depot. From there we walked up some stairs about 100 of them which took us to the rim walk. When I first saw it...I was speechless. It was amazing. Some people may think it's overrated...but it is spectacular. There is nothing like seeing it in person. Then it was the hour drive back to the hotel and sleep.
