We got an early start from Fort Stockton, headed out of West Texas toward New Mexico. The Fort Stockton RV Park had a great little restaurant, the Road Runner Café, where for two days we over indulged in pork BBQ, biscuits and gravy, and chicken fried steak. Had to get out of there soon or we would both be 300 lbs. At dawn with very light early Easter morning traffic we made great time rolling down a deserted desert highway10 being pushed by a steady tailwind. Before we know it we are approaching our next stop and it's not even noon yet so after a little discussion we decided to continue toward Tucson. The decision was made a little easier by the prediction of gusty winds for the next day which meant blowing dust and unexpected gusts through the mountains. We pushed through and it was the right choice as the winds on Monday were stronger then they predicted. In total we did 561 miles in 10.5 hours, including a 45 minute detour for a big rig accident in western New Mexico. We are now at the Tanner RV Park, a nice little one site park with full hookups. The proprietors
couldn't be more helpful but I guess it helps when it's Michelle's sister's house. We will be visiting Mark and Diane for a few weeks, resupplying, taking some Arizona bike rides, visiting with our son Wayne and his wife Ronda in Phoenix , and getting the truck serviced. It's a good break for us before our west coast swing. More pictures soon.
