Casino RV Parking Lot. Seufer6: Destination: Globe and Sedona, Arizona
Monday, February 5, 2007
Bisbee, Arizona proved to be a unique, interesting and fun little town. After our amazingly informative Queen Mine tour, it was after 2:00pm and we needed to get the motorhome packed up, on the road and to a campground by dark. On to the I-80, then onto the I-10 through Tucson, onto to I-77, north we were heading toward Sedona. Since it was getting late, we knew we would never make it all the way, so we decided to stop in a small town along the way for a quick dinner, then to find a campground. None to be found in this small town, so off we went another hours drive into the town of Globe. It was pitch black when we pulled the motorhome into a casino RV park in Globe, Arizona. We picked a spot, set up camp and went to bed. We aren't quite sure what this campground is like, but will soon find out.

When we awoke, we peeked out the window, to discover we were on a huge parking lot with many other RVers. Yes, we were parked right

Filling up the propane tank. on a Casino lot. Nothing fancy about it, but extremely spacious and clean. Ty and I walked the entire park while the kids ate breakfast and got ready for the day. We discovered a swimming pool, so Ty grabbed the kids for a quick dip. Then, we got dressed, loaded, and north we continued making our way to Sedona. We decided to take the backroads to see the beautiful scenery. From Globe we merged onto road 188, which was very scenic taking us by beautiful Roosevelt Lake and by mountains full of Saguaro Cacti. The Saguaro is a protected cactus here in Arizona and they are amazing looking. Up to Payson, Arizona we went, when we found a nice Mexican Restaurant to eat, which was yummy. Back on the road through Strawberry and Pine, Arizona. Higher we travelled, discovering snow along the way, which made us stop at the top of this high pass to build a snowman in our shorts and flipflops. That was a trip. It was as if we were back in Colorado again. Ty, the master motorhome driver, maneuvered his way up this windy pass as if he were driving a porsche. He is a great

Finally, we made it to beautiful Sedona, Arizona. WOW!!! What a breathtaking little town this is. The whole town is surrounded by red rocky mountains. We quickly found a campground and found a spot right on the creek. Prepared the motorhome, walked around the campground, which was nestled in a very protected area of overgrown trees. Jessica and Tanner were amazing and did homework the entire time Ty was driving, which proved to be difficult at times, with the windy roads and all, but they actually completed their assignments for the day. After beind cooped up, Tanner was itching to throw the football, so we headed down toward the creek into this big open meadow to play a little catch, while Emma and Lilly ran all around.
Since, we knew we were just here for the night, we thought it best to go into town to check things out. A short walk to a free Roadrunner shuttle service had us in town in no time. We were in what the locals call "Uptown" Sedona, which is where all the shopping, restaurants and action seemed to be. We were in the right spot. We walked along the main

We got prices, but decided we wouldn't have time for that. We also noticed the many salespeople trying to sell timeshares, homes, vacation packages among other things, which led us to believe this is a hot spot for travelers. We read in a local magazine that Sedona is 1 of the top 5 vacation spots in America. Looking at the fiery hued rock formations, we could see why. This beautiful town evolved from a small agricultural community into an artist realm and tourist hotspot. Since it was getting late and most of the shops were shutting down, back on the shuttle we went to our motorhome. We had a light dinner and then to bed.

Today we will make the scenic and famous drive through Oak Creek into the Grand Canyon. Jessica and I decided to go on a long walk to start our day. We enjoyed walking around the campground then up a big hill, down a hill to where the shuttle
