We had 2 saved timeshare weeks just begging to be used so opted for this trip. Marlene had never been to Vegas, I was there briefly in 1968 ....the part I remembered is now the Historic District of Fremont Street! We also share a strong connection with a visit to Phoenix and the Grand Canyon, 25 years ago. So a week in Arizona seemed to be a perfect choice for the second week. Sedona is hard to b... Beautiful hike into this Sedona Canyon......Tim could spend days in here with his camera.

Navajo Taco

Really! Served up at Cameron Trading Post on the Navajo Reservation close to the entrance to Grand Canyon. The usual taco stuff on Navajo fried bread!

The Really Big Canyon

It is so massive that no camera can do it justice. This was as close as we wanted to get to the edge.

And just a small sample of it.

Just over that little rock wall is a very long tumble to the bottom. Apparently the average is 15 fatalities each year....pretty good for 6.5 million visitors.

Lowell Observatory telescope

This telescope in Flagstaff was used to discover Pluto in 1930. The observatory was built in 1894. The telescope uses a clever system of counterweights to follow the movement of object across the sky...no motors.

Our “gift” for enduring another timeshare sales pitch was this very pleasant scenic train ride near Sedona.

Lift off!

We heard a noise like a hose blast. We checked to find this very nearby balloon lifting off. The sound was the “blowtorch” like blast to create the hot air.
Montezuma’s CastleMontezuma’s Castle
Montezuma’s Castle

Really badly misnamed by early settlers. Montezuma was never here and it is certainly no castle. What it is instead is an adobe cliffside village inhabited by the same Anasazi or Sinagua people who inhabited this area 1100 until the 1400s.

Enjoy every moment!
Great to see your pictures ...... woke up to see everything covered in snow this morning so you clearly picked a perfect time to be away. That being said, we were in Arizona last February / March and woke up on our first morning to see the biggest snowflakes ever - everything was shut down in Flagstaff and we were able to take pictures in Sedona and Jerome with snow ! Also got a speeding ticket but that wasn't one of our better Kodak moments! Have fun - safe travels!

Snow
Thanks for the response Nancy. Always good to get feedback. Apparently there had been snow at The Canyon the week before & we saw some on the peaks near Flagstaff.

I love your blog entries Marlene and Ian. I took to Vegas some years and was blown away, not literally. Wonderful pics and captions.

I have been very jealous of the pictures and the account of your latest tour. You seem to havw done justice to the main spots. I loved Sidona and your pics brought back happy memmories but that goes for most of your venues, Loved the wheels.
