The canyon!The canyon!The canyon!

The canyon contains some structures which are called the shiva, vishnu temples. And there's even a brahma temple in the canyon!

In to the canyon

Next we drove to Grand canyon that night and stayed at the Grand canyon village, barely a mile away from the southern rim. The northern rim of the canyon is more than a 1000 ft higher than the souther rim and is colder as well. We briefly took the Bright Angel trail before ]realizing that going down on a narrow track covered with generous mule droppings wasn't our cup of tea 😱

Taking a quick lunch at the Bright Angel lodge, we drove east on 64 which is also known as the Desert view drive, stopping at the Yaki point and the Yavapai observation point. The observation station offers a comprehensive description of the formation of the canyon and also affords a good view of the Colorado river. But the best observation point I thought was the Desert View watchtower, further east along Route 64 which is also the tallest point on the southern Rim.

Although it was around -10 C, we waited patiently for the sunset and were rewarded with one of the most fascinating views of the setting sun, as the rim cast it's long shadows over the canyon. The watchtower closes

well, would you be any better if you had to stand alone many million years?
at 5 pm but you can hang out along the rim and I promise, it will be a spectacle you'll never forget.
