Yes, as the location thingy says, oliver and I are back in the states. We've actually been back for two weeks. I have already seen many of you reading this, but I wanted to close the blog with one final entry. Since it has been an embarassingly long time since we've had an entry, it would take forever to talk about it all, so I'm just going to download a bunch of pictures of our last month, with ... Motorbiking! (Oliver)Motorbiking! (Oliver)
Motorbiking! (Oliver)

This is Oliver and Old Blue, which he shared with Helen (I was to inexperienced to have someone on the bike with me). This was taken on the way back into Phnom Penh, after Gretchin started to break down and Oliver and I switched bikes. Once I started driving Old Blue the gear lever broke and I was stuck in first gear going all the way into Phnom Penh. Oli could barely keep the other bike from dying, keeping pliers in his hands to work the choke as he was driving. All of this through crazy S.E. Asian traffic.

While walking around the rocky shore of Rabbit Island, my flip flops finally died. Oliver rummaged around the litter in the bushes and made me a new sandal so I could walk back to camp over the rocks.

our incredibly nice host getting crabs for our dinner. the water is very shallow for a long distance out of shore. unfortunately, it is about the same temperature as your skin, and swimming in it felt like, as oliver put it, swimming in your own sweat.

The view from our guesthouse room in Takeo, on our way back to Phnom Penh. In the rainy season, it is a huge lake. In the dry season (which we were in), they farm rice in parts of it.

These are cells in the high school the Khmer Rouge converted into a secret prison, known as S-21. They killed approx. 2 million of their own people while in power between 1975-1979; about 20,000 of them at S-21 itself. This was followed by years of civil war after the Vietnamese invaded. The Khmer Rouge didn't surrender until 1998, when internal conflict led to the death of Pol Pot, the most notorious leader of the regime. Occasionally, one still sees young children missing limbs from tripping over land mines left by both sides.

We spent a night on one of these traditional junks in Halong Bay. It was very touristy, with different tours playing bumber cars at the various different sights that they take you to. Here is the cave, here is the beach, here is the rock that is somehow supposed to look like a dog.
