We have arrived! Friday, August 12th, 2016 Day 10: Juneau, Alaska - Ice Caves! Land Ho! Today, Renata and I are going on an exciting adventure to the Mendenhall Glacier. We are not driving down to the visitor’s center like most people. We are actually going to walk on the Glacier and hopefully see an ice cave. But first we have to get there.
There are three ways to access the Mendenhall Glacier. You can take an expensive helicopter ride, a strenuous hike or a canoe ride from Mendenhall Lake. We decided to do the canoe ride.
We met up with our guides Zee and Nick in Juneau, and then headed off to the entrance to Mendenhall Lake. At Mendenhall Lake, we put on our gear, rain boots, a lifejacket and helmet. Then we were off!
It was a strenuous hour long canoe ride down Mendenhall Lake to the glacier but it was worth it when we reach our destination. After putting on our crampons, we set off to hike the Mendenhall glacier. The highlight of the trip was seeing an Ice Cave! That’s right! A cave made entirely of

Our ship has docked! Ice. We did not go inside the cave, because it was not recommended but it was interesting to see, nevertheless.
On our canoe ride back, we counted to 50 in several different languages to pass the time. Words cannot describe how cool it was to actually walk on a glacier. It was definitely a highlight of our trip!
The movie tonight on the ship was X-men Apocalyse, another surprisingly disappointment. Like Batman v Superman it seemed like the plot was all over the place. However, I did enjoy it more than the former Movie. I guess that was a plus!
Tomorrow, we head on over to Skagway where we will meet up with some very cute musher puppies!
