Capital Building Juneau Day 3 -Sunday - Sept 2, 2012 -Juneau
Today was our Juneau port of call. Unfortunately, it was a rainy day in Juneau. We took a tour to the mendahal glacier. The tour was a 3 hour one including transportation, so we didn't have a lot of time there but it was nice to see the glacier. It's amazing at how it has been around for so many years but is gradually receding due to global warming. There was avery informative movie in the visitor center. There was also a high powered telescope where we could see a mountain goat on the side of the mountain. There was also a chunk of the glacier ice there to touch . It was so clear. After gettting back to the town of Juneau we walked to the Capital building and then took the Mt Roberts tramway .
The tramway was nice and it was interesting to see the surrounding areas from up so high. Too bad it was a rainy day so our pictures of this aren't great.
We had lunch at the Hanger Restaurant and I had a buffalo burger. It was the
Alma & Karen in Juneau
Alma & Karen in Juneau best one I have ever had. It was fun to watch the sea planes taking off right out the window of the restaurant. They had a lot of different beers to choose from too.
