Today is a rest day. We put in laundry so we'd be prepared for the next leg of our adventures - Homer. The sun was out a little, so we decided to take one last try to see Denali in the distance from Anchorage. No luck, but Aunt Jean came along and we got a bit of a tour of Anchorage with her. The Milepost says that the population is 284,000. It gets 70 inches of snow in the winter and averages 14 degrees F. July averages 60 degrees. (We know that!) It wasn't even started as a city until about 1915. The Good Friday earthquake of 1964 was an 8.6, the most powerful recorded in North America. It is a city of flowers in the summer and a city of lights in the winter. "Within the city limits of Anchorage there are an estimated 1,000 moose, nearly 250 black bears and almost 60 grizzly bears."
We took Aunt Jean to lunch and visited Uncle Dick. We had to take Janet to the airport around 6:00. BOO HOO! We had a great three weeks!
