Ancient Ruins
a rare group shot in Teotican ruins No blues here, just a literary allusion. From San Blas, stoners paradise, we drove into Gadalahara (spelled wrong here). It was extremeley difficult to leave San Blas with its waves, sunshine, and laidback lifestyle. But adventure beckoned. Gadalahara was huge, bustling, and very scenic, with sqaures, and plazas filled with artists, writers, and musicians. We stayed in a great hostel right downtown, we met a Columbian guy who convinced me and Barton anyway to definetly check out his hoem country. We met two stoner hippie chicks from Quebec who had bussed down from canada to San Diego just so they could cross the border at TJ, (some song they had heard or something). We passed on that joint though in favor of a night out, it was tuesday and pretty slow and due to another misunderstanding (Barton again) we ended up at a rather swanky Gentlemans club but we got out with our lives and wallets intact. I for one though that the single mother who was sitting at our table was quite a classy lady. Early the next morning as we got ready to leave we ran into our Aussie friend from Creel who was going to attempt the same
Luche Libre
BArton prepares for a match in Mexico City's finest wrestling facility hike that we failed at. He was less succesful than us as a rain storm blocked his path. I drove most of the way to MExico city and Barton took over. Things became very interesting. Our plan was to stay a night in Teotican, check out the ruins and then leave the car and bus it into the city. One of the most frequent pieces of advice we recieved for this trip was DONT DRIVE IN MEXCICO CITY. So well, we missed our turn and plunged neck deep into rush hour traficc, after about an hour of insanity we got out alive and into Teotican. Ruins were tight, met fresh faced abroad students on top of the pyramids. Quick bus ride into Mexico City, I listened to Spanish Bombs by the Clash as my soundtrack. Hearing Music from another time. Took a cab, the cabbie even got lost in the crazy frikken streets of this place. Got to our hostel, hostel Catadrel right in the middle of the historic square. We got out of the cab and were sucked up into a huge protest out front of the MExican version of the whitehouse, somehting about corn I think. Last night
Catedral
Inside the stunning oldest cathedral in Mexico we went to Luche Libre (badass mexican wrestling) got tanked and talked shit in english to all the wrestlers. met danes who were not as loud as us. Got drunker on top of the hostel on the roof til early morning with some good cats and a nice girl from Chiapas. Today a hangover and a heated political discussion with a fellow american took up most of the morning. Me and BArton just walked around the Cathedral and the government building while Roycraft is sleeping off his hangover. We will be here until sunday night after the super bowl we are gonna bus it back, stay one more night i nteotican, and then its on to Veracruz for carnivale, supposed to be nuts if anyone wants to meet us there on Monday....
