All a girl needs!All a girl needs!All a girl needs!

A scrumptious pina colada on a hot day whilst resting like a queen on a banana lounge - delightful!

After making a deal in order to get a raspberry yoghurt Magnum without having to get off the couch, you all have to put up with my ramblings on the blog for the next 3 entries! ( I also had to do the washing up AND buy Dougo a beer, plus open it AND curtsey!!!)

Though, admittedly, I haven't been pulling my respective blogging weight so I guess I better have a crack.

The weather hasn't been great over the past few days, overcast and very windy so we've mostly been mooching around the shops of downtown Cancun, god help us this place is a hole, or having complete meltdowns over my ipod deciding to cark it.

We have managed to leave the hostel for one excursion - to the little island of Isla Mujeres, or Woman Island.

The Lonely Planet built it up as the backpacker destination of all destinations but obviously we have been spoilt because we weren't that impressed to be truthful. There are ferries that arrive on the half hour loaded with day trippers (about 200 per ferry) who all pile out the terminal only to be accosted by touts

who want to sell you snorkelling tours, golf cart hire or conch shells/shark's teeth/coral necklaces. After you run the gauntlet of that, comes the restaurant touts "2 for 1 cervezas, pina coladas, come my friend, best price for you!!"

After nodding and smiling gratefully and repeatedly saying "no, gracias" you come to a dead end where you choose from the multitude of "beach clubs" a phenomenon that I had yet to encounter. Basically, you order a drink and then pull up some lounge chairs, banana chairs, a mattress, umbrella and kick off your shoes and drink away while the aqua blue water laps at your toes.

It's ideallyc until the next snorkelling tour boat arrives in a chug of fumes, speakers blaring with pop music and unloads the next bunch of package tourists burnt and ready to drink, right in front of you.

Still, depsite the wind and the crowds, we enjoyed a few hours sitting under the umbrella drinking beer and pina coladas!!

We had a walk around the north end of the island where there was a lovely long stretch of shallow calm water that looked lovely for swimming. (the wind was up and it was suprisingly chilly so we missed out on a swim, sadly.)

We watched the sunset, very beautiful and always a great way to end the day on a positive note and then headed back to the mainland.

I think Isla Mujeres would have been like Caye Caulker once before it became a day tripper destination. Caye Caulker, ahhhh, so amazing. I WANT BACK THERE!!!

Till next time my lovelies!
Only 127 days until our wedding!!
