BEHOLD the TICKETS
Our magical, wonderful tickets in our possession for the first time. 3 Group matches, 4 Super 8 games and the Semi in Jamaica. Visited Countries Map Blogger Dougo For those of you who don't know, Bec and I are heading the Cricket World Cup next week in the Caribbean for the next leg of our trip. We are very lucky and have procured tickets to 8 games including a Semi Final as well as accomdodation and flights to get to the games (a big issue with so many people in such locations).
We bought the tickets in May and September last year and were told they would be delivered two weeks prior to the event starting. Well because we didnt know where exactly we would be at the time we purchased the tickets, we put down my Mum and Dad's place in Sale, Australia. Now if we had of read the fine print, we would have found out that we had until Nov 30 to change the delivery address. We found this out after Christmas. So here we were in Cancun, Mexico and we received an email from my Mum saying that they had been delivered to her in Sale, Australia. On the other side of the world!!
Freaking out that we had to get the tickets in our possession prior to leaving for the world cup, I bestowed upon my mother the enormous responsibility of sending the tickets to us via courier. DHL wouldnt do it coz the tickets were irreplacable (they are!!) so she ended up going with FedEx, who I am proud to say came through with the goods. AUD$135 and a week later they arrived in Cancun last Friday. NICE WORK MUM!!!!!
Ok, so we couldnt go and pick them up on Saturday coz we were in Playa del Carmen jumping into underground cenotes (see blog). We couldnt pick them up on Sunday coz they were closed. We went looking for the distribution office today. Unfortunately the address that Mum gave me didnt have the number of Avenue Tulum. Avenue Tulum is massive. It runs the entire length of the town. Luckily we had seen a FedEx sign from our bus on the way out of Cancun so we new we had a place to start. Turns out it was just an agent but they told us where the office was. We walked three blocks and found it no worries.
Upon asking for the package they asked me for the tracking number. I didnt have it. Mumdidnt give it to me. I didnt ask Mum to. Hmmm. They didnt have a record of a pacel for Doug Taylor. Hmmm. Where was it sent to? Hotel Maria del Lourdes, I say. No sorry dont have a record of that. Hmmm. When was it delivered? Feb 2nd I say. Let me ask the courier. No sorry he doesnt remember delivering to that hotel on that day. Hmmm
. Ok what happens when a parcel cannot be delivered, I ask. Well we keep it here until people pick it up. Ok, can you check for me? I ask.
Where was it sent from? Melbourne or Sydney Australia, I say. Oh here it is. It was addressed to The Nest Hostel and not Doug Taylor, but D Taylor. Please sign here. Thanks.
Behold we have them. Thank goodness for that!!
