This was the first day of our trip that we had to set an alarm. Our excursion meeting time was 8:15 am so we were up at 6:30 got ready and grabbed breakfast before heading off the ship to our meeting point on the pier.
We had decided to take a Segway tour of a Mayan Village called El Cedral. After signing our release forms and watching a safety video we got on our segways and started riding through the streets of El Cedral. It was a quaint little village with well maintained Mexican Homes and quiet streets. We spent about 35 minutes on our segways before stopping at a botanical garden and learning about the plants that were important to the Mayans. We also learned some of the history of El Cedral which was settled by a group of 11 Mayan Families who fled from the Yucatan Peninsula to Cozumel to avoid a war that ultimately brought about the destruction of the Mayan Culture.
A short walk from the garden we stopped in a home that was setup as though it were Dia de los Muertes and we learned about the traditions that take place on this holiday.
We then moved into a typical Mayan Kitchen where we met a woman who was preparing fresh tortillas, some salsas and some chips which we got to sample.
Our next stop was a family owned Tequila factory. We got to learn the lengthy process of making tequila. Then, we were back on the bus on the way back to the cruise terminal.
We were dropped off in a shopping center across the street from the terminal as usual and we had planned on doing some shopping so that was fine. It didnt seem familiar from our last visit to Cozumel so I was a little disoriented. Our maps showed that we were at the Punta Langosta cruise terminal not the International Cruise Terminal. So I kept trying to get us to familiar territory with no luck. Finally I realized that we were at the International Cruise Terminal and that the downtown area was a 3 mile cab ride away so, we shopped at the International Pier before getting back on the ship.
It was about 1:15 and we were ready for lunch. After dropping our stuff off in the room, we checked what venues were open for
lunch and headed to Windjammer Marketplace to eat.
Being fed and cooled off enough to change clothes, we went back to our room, changed into swimsuits and headed up to the Solarium to get in the pool. The water temp as exactly what we needed to cool off. Then we relaxed on beach chairs for a while before getting back into the pool. The sun was plenty hot and we didnt want to get any more of it so we moved into some chairs in the shade so we could stay outside but not in the direct sun. We relaxed for the rest of the afternoon before it was time to get ready for dinner.
We were out of specialty dining credits so we were in the Main Dining Room. If you remember, there was a mix up the first night at dinner and we knew one of the other couples had moved tables to be with their family so we stopped to talk to the Head Waiter to see if we had been moved as well. We were seated at a table for two and had a nice dinner.
After dinner we had a few minutes to grab my refillable cup and get some soda before heading to see the Come Fly With Me Show which is an aerial show with people hanging from the ceiling for most of it. It was quite a site.
The we took our nightly walk before turning in.
