City tour
think cheesy chinese tourists, but internationals in mexico Hmmm so the first couple of weeks have had mixed messages really, still fiestas, still goof times woops and good times, but SO much HOMEWORK,,, what’s up with that?!, it’s not hard homework… more like time consuming, what’s the freaking point homework.
I came to Mexico to relax, reflect and religion research, comes into it somewhere… right? WRONG! With full time uni (5 papers, 2 of them being double credits) classes (salsa (pesos $980) , kickboxing, pilates, & aerodance (gratis… free)… (magic card tricks, I wish I could afford)), voluntary work (AMMAC - art and friendship for kids), fiestas and fun times, it appears the lifestyle of Jade stays the same regardless of the country. Finding time for my myself to sit and do nothing… is again, near impossible, I prefer to sleep (which is quite minimal once again, mid afternoon siestas are great though, if I’m lucky enough to squeeze one in without surrounding picnic table giving me weird looks) But doing the travelblog, and keeping connected to my lovelies across the sea, is considered to be my form of reflection, relaxation on the other-hand…I’ve kinda forgotten what it feels like. i don’t stress all too often, so I
Jane & i
ozzie & NZ with monterrey monumental fountain (of nakies, and water shooting everywhere) think that assists in the long-term relaxation lifestyle.
So what have I done? Wait for it…. WAIT for it …. *big sigh Well…
Sun 14 Aug> International Christian Church www.cci.org: oddly intense, in a good way though, was a tad weirded out by the mass falling & fainting with ‘the powerful feeling of God within. But twas intriguing different none the less, and genuinely understandable, enough to choose to want to go again… though selina the girl I met, and went with has up and left for Mexican hometown & masachusetts for a year, the coincident commitment is just too much at the moment.
Tues 17 Aug> Advertising quiz and assignment was a bitch - read the wrong chapter, and assignment was underestimated, I’ll keep you updated on other poo homework
Wed 18 Aug> Breakfast >- treated myself to a strawberry (fresca) and nutella crepe, like heaven in your mouth on brown and red… so looks kinda like hell, but taste like heaven ooh and accompanied with - Mexican coffee which is like instant coffee with frothed milk … nice try though
After Salsa> Wal-Mart 24 hours - decided to half sluprge, sincei opened up a bank account, and
CCI - international christian church
(l-r) elizabeth, zelina, lady from NZ (jill maybe), moi needed underwear, and gym clothes for all my cool classes, then realized I couldn’t afford, and my card wasn’t working, so I had to put heaps of shit back, embarrassingly exciting. Ngeh shet happens*
Thurs 19 Aug> Thursday is turning into my hanging out with randoms night, and they’ve all been pretty Decent, this time was with Arielle, Jane and two random guys from the tec, and we went to have… wait for it wait for it, SHISHA! Was so gool, yes good and cool, definitely going again.
Fri 20 Aug> Afternoon> visited Marco (contemporary art gallery) which was impressing, both the structure of building/ presentation and exhibitions
MET - the metropolitan museum of Monterrey, twas pretty decent too, simple, smart, straight to the point with ancient tradition hoohah
Noches (night)>Amigos internationales fiesta, was supposed to be last week in a classy bar, in a classy part of town, but it had been closed down because of SOME STUFF, so this week, it was at someone’s place and it was PACKED OUT - $60 pesos open bar - miraculously got in for gratis (free), the police got called by the landlords (funny that) and then we head into Barrio Antigua
(the ‘happening’ place) went with kind of randoms, and came back with not so random, randoms: Had my first encounter with the policia, the guy that was driving us home, was supposedly over the limit of drink driving, the police the find of 1800 pesos, or car impoundment, and licence revoked, or half of that upfront now…. We all only had 300 or so put together, so in the end, after a lot of waiting & hoping he let us go… what a nice bastard
Sat 21 Aug> tried to do homework, but lab was closed (oh pooh) met up with a couple of lovely chikitas from church, first time I caught the metras (metro Train) - I must admit, their public transport system is like 100 times better than ours, not cleaner, but definitely more efficient. That night hit the reggae spot, a tad too late, and decided to head to ‘The Egyptian’ for SHISHA again, no I’m not a regular… yet
Sun 22 Aug> first sleep in to 12noon: chilled, cleaned and walked to tec, all ready for homework with a flat laptop and no converter, walked all the way back, extremely happy with myself and treated myself
Carolina in MARCO
is it a really shiny floor!? no it's water all over the ground, they have a fountain/ flood water feature in the centre of the Contemporary art gallery... what has this world come to with a siesta, which I have now got my A into G and broken out of the temporary coma.
Fun times… fun times, there’s more where that came from, stayed tuned for more fun times in our next episode → next time I decide to procrastinate with the homework.
Much lovie dovies to my lovelies. ☺xo
