Miercoles, 7 Marzo, We left Zacatecas at the 8000 foot elevation and headed southwest to Guadalajara. The drive was pleasant, with the elevation going down then up again reaching nearly 7000 feet then down to comfortable 5000 feet or so. This is Let’s Go’s favorite Guadalajaran restaurant and it ranked high with AAA as well. The restaurant was mostly filled with local families.

At 4:00 p.m. on a weekday afternoon, we had to wait to be seated.

Instead of shredding the chicken and filling the enchiladas with other stuff. His enchiladas were filled with hunks of white chicken breasts, wrapped with corn tortillas and served with his choice of mole sauce.

As a fat lady, I know that chiles rellenos are just about the most fattening thing on a Mexican menu. I do consider myself a connoisseur.

I ordered the “goat” stew for which the restaurant is noted. We had walked several blocks to try this dish. The restaurant’s “pimp” tried his best to assure us that the meat was “res” (beef). We wanted to try goat. We’re not sure what we got.

In Mexico, barbacoa only means roasted meat – and is nothing like what BBQ means to us. It was lean and very good.

I think it was tastier than Ray’s but there was so much fat. Being as fat adverse as I am, I could not eat more than a few bites of meat but I really did enjoy the broth
