Thursday, 23 February, we moved north to the city and state of Guanajuato. The city of Guanajuato is considered to be the most beautiful, romantic and "one of the best preserved" of Mexico’s colonial cities. Museo Casa Diego Rivera is his boyhood home. The museum’s ground floor is furnished in period furniture. Some of his art is displayed on the upper floors. Maybe his better stuff is displayed elsewhere or we don't appreciate good art.

About 200 wealthy Spaniards hid out in this bldg. Insurgents burned the door and killed the people inside. Later revolutionary leaders Miguel Hildago, Ignacio Allende and two other leaders were beheaded and their heads hung from the corners of the bldg for 10 years between 1811-21. The hooks are still there.

Accompanying plaque said that this guy was a doctor and the oldest mummy displayed.
