Preparing for our winter trip from Mexico City to Panama City. Most hotel stays are pre-booked. Travel will be mainly by bus or shuttle, with some water taxis. Lots of walking. It is our favourite way to explore. The itinerary is a mix of inland and coastal centres, big and small. The longest stay in any one place is 5 nights. Bus and shuttle travel will vary too, with some longer rides, including one overnight bus trip. We don't speak Spanish, but will do our best to try. Planning was done largely online. We will have a Footprint guide book and a good road map with us. We are taking a laptop to keep in touch when wifi allows. We may purchase a sim card for a phone. I've never used a travel blog. We'll see if it helps track our trip. Our itinerary is:

January 16 fly to Mexico City, via Washington, DC.; 17-22 Oaxaca, Mexico; 3-27 San Cristobal, Chiapas, Mexico; 27- 31 Antigua, Guatemala; 31-February 4 La Libertad, El Salvador; 4 La Union, El Salvador; 5-8 Isla de Meanguera, El Salvador; 8-11 Leon, Nicaragua; 11-13 Granada, Nicaragua; 13-15 San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua; 15-18 Escameca, Nicaragua; 18-21 Liberia, Costa Rica; 21-24 San Jose, Costa Rica; 24-27Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica; 27- March 3 Bocas del Toro, Panama; 3-6 Boquete, Panama; 6-7 David, Panama; 7-10 Panama City, Panama; Return to Ottawa, via Toronto
