Back home sitting in the sunshine watching the shadows on the snow marvelling at how beautiful it is at -26C ...I do like it and have the clothes to deal with it . SO MUCH better than the balmy mild CLOUDY ,CLOUDY , CLOUDY depressing days of January . At least one can dress for this weather and soak up enough solar energy to function with a smile . Antigua Basilica

Built in 1709 but damaged by earthquakes and sinking into the earth . Closed for 20years while they attempted to stabalize it ... reopenned in 2000 . It was strange walking inside as the floor is almost wavy and I felt unbalanced

Interior

Catedral Metropolitana

Huge!! 3 centuries in the building 1525-1813 .It is the largest colonial cathedral in the Western Hemisphere . It is stunning . The hostel I stayed at is across the street .

Altar de los Reyes

An artist of the late 1700's . 4 of his paintings are in the church.

There are 7 chapels within the church each with remarkable altars.

At stop lights it was common to see entertainers of some kind doing their schtik for those waiting for the light to change.
