Mexico Adventure September 2011 to July 2012
An introduction of the beginning: We ask ourselves how we spent so much time here in Mexico, considering we had only 1 month of pre-arranged commitment in Chiapas de Corzo which is in the state of Chiapas. Prior to leaving Australia we decided to do a TEFL course so we had something else to fall back on whilst travelling the world, so this in mind lead us to Mexico for the month of September it was bums up & heads down learning how to teach English, and hopefully receive a certificate that is world-wide recognized. This we passed!! Thanks to Joanna @ Dunham Institute in Chiapas de Corzo…

Chiapa de Corzo
In the month of January, this event is enormous.... for updates...........
When this came to an end we needed to look into work straight away for one the experience and two our peace of mind that we would be comfortable in this line of work as it’s out of our league of what we were used too….managing hotels & establishing olive groves & vineyards for years. As there was a position open with Joanna in the month of October, this is where our adventure in Chiapas de Corzo began………………
With the Institute they offered us to stay with a host family & Spanish classes in exchange of our teaching in the afternoons 5 days a week, so our teaching experience lasted until July 2012. May I add a huge” Thank-you” to Joanna @ Dunham Institute for this experience with her and all the staff & most of all the children/ adults that were there learning, and not to forget Esther, she is the amazing Spanish teacher @ Dunham Institute for all her patients & understanding.
Within our time in Chiapas de Corzo meeting amazing friends & our host family, well what can I say, we so miss them dearly, having gone through all their

this amazing canyon, Sumidero Canyon. family traditions, and learning their culture was just unbelievable, something I will never forget, from just the culture celebrations, the weddings, the birth of a child, a funeral, Christmas, Easter, birthdays, the day of the dead, just some amazing celebrations in Chiapas de Corzo, and yes how can I forget the children, the street parades, just watching them, this is one township that will never lose its culture…
The locals really keep tradition alive here, and if you ever, ever get a chance I highly recommend putting it on your list of places to visit, especially in the months of September through to February at least.
Today as I remember all the times that I have had here, from the very first day we arrived at our host family, the Nandayapa family (who is also known for the Marimba making, this is another special thing to see & do, you can actually visit where they are made)…meeting a couple of English fellows, (Poms) and Jessica, who were also teachers at Dunham Institute who took us out that night showing us a good unforgettable time!!!!....too other very special times with family & friends celebrating birthdays, friendship, & most of
