Our bus ride from San Cristobal to Palenque was again rather adventurous. Apart from the very curvy and bumpy road we got pulled over by the police which delayed our journey by over two hours. We have no idea why we got stopped, probably it was the speeding of our crazy driver 😊

As a result of that we arrived in Palenque at 1.30am with no place to stay. We decided to take a cab to a close-by hostel, where we got escorted by the drunken bar staff to the sleeping receptionist. We managed to get a room that was in fact a small house made partly out of mosquito nets and palm tree leaves. Situated on the edge of the jungle we were surrounded by voices of the nature, which we were unable to identify.

Waking up early we made our way into town, where we were walking up and down to find a place to watch Poland vs Russia. Of course we managed 😊

Once the game was over we had half a day to use so we decided to go visit the ruins in the jungle of Palenque. We took another collectivo which took us directly to the entry. As we arrived 30min before the closing time we got let in for free 😊 ! We walked all around, avoiding security who tried to get everyone to leave. We didnĀ“t have enough time but it was still beautiful and is definitely one of the places worth seeing.
