Breakfast at Denny's. 12. LolMay 10/14
Up early courtesy of the alarm - aka 'a parking lot full of semis'. A little slow moving due to no sleep. K took the monsters out for a walk in the tornado, then it was brunch with K's family. K's parents drove up for Mum's Day weekend at the golf course his bro works at! What a great blessing it was for us to see them. Got to meet K's bro's girlfriend (I shall call them 'Kynya') and her 4 midgets. Another blessing for us, and more than likely them as well, as we are pretty fantastic! Made my mark before leaving the restaurant of course - Went to go to the bathroom, and the only stall left is the stall where someone convienently 'forgot' to flush their mounds of tp, and other stuff. So, I flush it (with my foot). Hmmm. Water starts pouring out and I start laughing, and yell "lift your feet ladies, it's gonna get wet!" Exit, me. K's mom, and T were the only ladies in there - nice Paula. Lol. Whoops.
Lots of hugs, pics, and goodbyes before jumping in our rig to head off to 'Dennaren's' house
K, his dad, and his brotherby Arelee. Don't know where that is? Us neither. GPS says 95km. It was not an hour. It took us two. Hwy 19 was fine, it was the Sec Hwy 376. Good Gosh! Pot holes, & patchy pavement the whole way. To quote an intelligent lady, "It was a good thing I wasn't breast feeding, cause we would've had a milkshake up in there!" Had a Saskatchatooey standoff with a farmer and his massive seeder on the road. He won. Farmers always win. We amused ourselves with Saskatchewan jokes the remainder of the way, and we laughed and laughed.
Pulled in to Dennaren's just after 2pm. Our friends even came out to the road to meet us - I told you we were fantastic! I was wide eyed staring up at the massive grain bins that took up most of the yard, a HUGE newly painted big red barn, and the many Alpacas roaming and eating grass out in the yard. So cool. So authentic. So untouched. We Picked a spot to park the rig, and set down our jacks just as 'Anticki' pulled in with their girls. Funny, we have to travel all this way to
Saying Goodbyesee friends that live only a few blocks away at home! They come out every year to help with seeding which starts Wednesday and is late this year due to weather. We all exchanged some much needed Saskatchewan jokes, then the boys all headed to D's bro's house to help put a cab on a tractor. Cool stuff going on here. Honorary Farmer induction!
I got the full tour of the farm, house (built in 1918), and Prairie Fire Alpaca building. Met the boy Alpacas. One spit at my lovey host. I suggested she punch him in the face. She however gave him a treat. Maybe that's one of the reasons I don't raise Alpacas. Yeah, that's it.
Had delicious ribs for dinner, and met Mike and Chris that work with Dennaren on the farm. Much like our Alberta camping adventures, our great day ends with a fire outside under God's twinkling sky. Stories are told, jokes are made, marshmallows are roasted, and again, we are left at the end of the day feeling blessed.
