Montreal

MontrealAfter a lot of military history at the Plains of Abraham (we learned how to use a musket), we took a charter bus from Quebec City to Montreal. Montreal has a completely different feel than Quebec City. Quebec was old and historic, while Montreal has a new, big city feel. Montreal also has more shopping than you can imagine! It's like Third Street, the Beverly Center, and Century City Mall all within a three block radius. Most people are bilingual speaking French and English. Like Quebec, it still feels a little bit like France. French pastries and croissants are still on every block 😊

Montreal was originally founded as a fort. As people settled in Montreal, they brought the Catholic religion with them. The Notre Dame Cathedral was built in Montreal in 1894. It was built over a smaller church that it's parishoners had outgrown. The church is beautiful, filled with murals from the Old and new Testament and Biblical Figures. Everything is very ornate and very gold.

However, the highlight of the evening was the Notre Dame Light Show (insert sarcasm). The "Light Show" was a historical interpretation of how the Notre Dame Basillica was created. The cheesy acting, bad music, and laser show, is something better not described in words. Definitely something you will need to see on your own.
