The Weekend Crew
Seth, Suzanne, Leila, Randall, Jason, Meredith, Jamie, Yasmin and Dan (missing: Chris and Marie) Randall started the ball rolling with this ski trip about a month ago suggesting we head for a ski weekend over our last reading week vacation as students. I was able to re-connect with an old contact (Gord Roy from Ski Rod Roy) and next thing you know, 11 of us are heading for a ski weekend at Mont Sainte-Anne.
Randall picked me up at 6h00 in the darkness of the morning and then we headed to pick up Fombonne before hitting the road pre-rush hour. Chris and Marie were already en route about 15 minutes ahead of us and we connected at Timmie's somewhere along the road. Chris was sporting a nice set of longjohns showing the world how proud he is.
We arrived in Mont Sainte-Anne around 10h30 and were on the slopes by 11h00. The skiing was fast, the sky was blue and the company fierce. After skiing we went to the chalet and were pleasantly surprised by our accommodation. There was even a snow FORT built outside of it.
Meals had been split by sex so Randall, Dan, Chris and I started preparing Friday night’s meal of a green salad, homemade chili and bread
Summit Break
Dan, Chris, Randall, Seth and butter pudding. Even though this was the "boys" meal - Marie played the greatest role in its success.
The third car arrived later in the day with Meredith, Yasmin and Suzanne while we were just leaving the hot tub. They quickly jumped on board and started in the other apres-ski activities. A few hours later, Jason arrived with Leila and Jamie and it was time for dinner!!
Dinner was tasty and afterwards we hung out both inside and in the fort. Before heading to bed, the ladies engaged in a photo shoot enacting emotions or reactions situations yelled out by Jamie and myself. I couldn't remember which was which so all the photos say Hmmm...
Saturday morning we woke up, had some breakfast and most went to the hill for a day of skiing. The first few runs were slow as everyone got back on their bikes but the pace increased and we started flying.
For some, the day ended after a late lunch and for others after 16h00. The conditions were similar to Friday, quick and icy with a blue sky.
Apres-ski on Saturday was similar to Friday's but better because everyone was
In the Fort
Leila, Jamie, Suzanne, Yasmin, Dan, Seth, Randall, Meredith, Jason, Marie and Chris there (except for Chris and Marie who unfortunately had to leave) and there were nachos!!! We fit a hot tub visit in there again even though one of the employees of the complex wouldn't let us all in it at the same time.
Dinner Saturday night was linguini with a doctored tomato sauce, garlic bread, ceasar salad and a different bread and butter pudding for dessert. Again, yummy!
We stayed in Saturday night and enjoyed relaxing, chatting and playing cards.
Sunday we had a hot breakfast of eggs, bacon for those that wanted, toast and the leftover cold breakfast from Saturday. We then packed up, checked out and headed home.
Overall, it was a great weekend surrounded by wonderful people. Would have been better if Gali was able to join but hopefully there will be a next time with this crew.
