Dancin' Davis
Davis getting jiggy with it as part of her landlady's NIA class demonstration. NOTE: The dancing is not gay-specific - that is what was so cool about Toronto Pride: that it was totally inclusive. Toronto's glorious summer continues for Team Ted. Still can't believe we didn't come to this awesome country YEARS ago! But having the time of our lives here right now...
Highlights of the past few weeks include:
-
Toronto Pride Festival - Soooooooo much fun! The Toronto "Gaybourhood" (
Church & Wellesley Village) is right near us so we just strolled down to join in the festivities. On the Saturday we went along to watch our landlady do a dance demonstration with her fitness group, and RD decided to join in and make a fool of herself (nothing unusual there). We then spent the rest of the day wandering about enjoying the masses of stalls, performances and sensational costumes. Such a fun, relaxed vibe and very inclusive, a definite highlight of our entire time here in T'ronno.
The actual parade was held on the Sunday so we strolled on down again to take it all in. It went for over three hours! It was a super hot and sunny day and us spectators were wilting in the heat so massive credit to the queens in all their finery and make-up, not sure how they did it. The parade was very interesting...public nudity laws seemed to
Team Ted Pride
ST & RD getting into the Pride spirit be relaxed (or ignored) for the day so we have a number of "adults only" pics available upon request tee hee heeeeeeee. Again, it was a brilliant atmosphere, purely about fun and enjoyment for all involved.

Queen's Visit - Yes, our dear old Queen decided to stop by Toronto to grace us with her presence. Again, it was right near where we live so we thought we'd pop down and say g'day. Another SUPER hot day but ol' Liz retained her famous composure and didn't bat a royal eyelid. Lots of people turned out to catch a glimpse of her so there was a fair bit of pushing and shoving and undignified behaviour from the commoners, but we still managed to catch a glimpse of the tiny old lady as she inspected the troops. Whether pro- or anti-monarchy you can't deny she is a pretty cool lady, and seeing her in sunny Toronto was an unexpected bonus. Straight after seeing her we watched the wacky Shriner Parade (see previous entry) so it was certainly an interesting day.

The Melster - Even better than the Queen (although with less hats), RD's pal Mel decided to stop by T-ro
It's A Tough Life...
...but somehow Davis manages to smile through adversity...
A shattered Ted consoles himself by playing photographer. as part of a whirlwind visit to the US and Canada. First off though, RD met up with her in New York which was kinda awesome. Not sure who allowed these two little girls from Brissie into NYC but a sensational time was had by all. The "usual" things were accomplished e.g. Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, chilling in Central Park, walking across the Brooklyn Bridge, drooling in Tiffany & Co etc. The hotel was right near Times Square/Broadway so plenty of time was spent battling the crowds to explore there. A trip out to
Coney Island was well worth the journey - and impressed Ted as he is a huge fan (seriously!) of the annual
hot dog eating contest held by Nathan's Hot Dogs.
Speaking of Ted, he was left to his own devices back in Toronto while the girls lived it up in NYC - but don't fear, he kept himself well occupied by playing football/soccer (and scoring a goal!!!! RD was not happy she missed it but was VERY proud) and also going along to the
Rogers Cup to see his idol Mr Federer play. Feds treated Ted to a win on the day...but went on to lose the final
Is That You Dad?
A happy little flower man. to Andy feckin' Murray.
Davis dragged Mel back to Toronto with her from NYC so Team Ted had an extra player for a couple of days. We loved showing her around "our" city - taking her to our diner, our park, our farm and walking her wee legs off to show her everything else we could think of. Then she jetted off to continue her fabulous holiday (she's currently in San Francisco...we're not jealous at all...)!!!!!!
Think that takes us about up to date. We will actually be leaving our lovely Toronto in a while to head home to the Land of Oz for a few months (for weddings etc) and while we are of course really looking forward to seeing everyone at home we will be sad to leave here...although perhaps we are not so sad to be missing the winter as our love for Toronto may well be tested.
Miss you all xxx
