Creating my Mandarin cheat notes and saying last minute goodbyes has caused me forget to do the laundry.
Oh what the heck ... will go stickit in the machine ... no noisy zips or buttons so drying after 20:00 should be OK.
The last week has been a scramble to get things organized, winterized and finished. All bins full of age old junk have been moved from two damp musty locations to a lovely new dry 12x8 wooden shed that my skilled in woodcraft sister has built. I was the go-for! She did a lovely job and we only had the help of two men with the roof.
Moving the bins from the plastic shed which is now for sale, and from the woodshed which my sister said sh/could be torched took a whole day in the drizzle but without a cold wind ... thank goodness! Went to bed with Ibuprofin that night.
The cottage which recently was in danger of standing in water because of five days and nights of rain has been stuffed with all outside fixtures from umbrella to deck table to barometer to garden art to composting toilet. The solar inverter has been
shut off and all is snug for the coming snows ... this evening according to the weather report ... but they cannot always be believed.
The cold weather has allowed me to be more conscious of packing for cold weather in China. All has been stowed away in a new smaller backpack ...raspberry coloured.... and a small day back that has been with me since Bilboa, Madrid and Malaga, Spain!
And in the musty plastic shed is where I finally found my Arc'teryx Gortex jacket left over from the truck trip in 2007. It was one of the final things moved to the new one shed and only discovered because the day pack with all my travel decals proved to be too big. I have bought a new MEC jacket and the difference between the two is astounding ...old/new, short/long, tight/roomy, expensive/half the price.
All is quiet at 20:16. Have remembered to eat only because throwing out the food left in the fridge is sinful ...according to any religion!
To all new subscribers to my blog WELCOME! to old friends, sorry I have not responded to comments and well wishes. To those waiting to know how
the trip in 2012 ended sorry for leaving you high and dry in Amsterdam.
The last two winters have been spent attending class at Laurentian University and the last two summers I travelled using my Dodge Caravan turned mini-RV with friends from England and Austria to Niagara Falls and the Great Lakes! We did stay in Motels and B&B's.
This winter on the advize and recommendation of my Toronto dentist its off to China with www.sinoramaholidays.com from November 12 to December 9 and then on my own till January 16. Will be back in Sudbury January 27 because my Montreal friend and I are going to Stowe, Vermont for the weekend of the 22 and I will spend time with my dentist before and after getting a second gold crown.
These are the best laid plans of me and mine ... am ready for all and any adventure!! (five foto in all)
