Going for the close up :)

Niagara Falls

From Orlando flew to Buffalo, just a short journey away from the US city of Niagara falls. Arrived in Niagara late afternoon, and after dropping my bags off in the hostel, made the 20 min walk from the accommodation to the falls on the US side (for those who don't know you can actually see the falls from both Canada and the US, with it being widely agreed that the best views are on the Canadian side).

Went with Chinese guy I met at the Hostel to the Falls, when we got there it was starting to get dark, and it wasn't long until the falls were lit up by bright coloured lights coming from the Canadian side.

Next day got up early and set off to the Falls, I decided to take my backpack with me as plan was to see the falls on both sides that day, then head off to Toronto. Two things I got told not two miss (which I didn't) were Maid of the Mist & Cave of The winds. The Cave of the Winds is not actually a cave, but keeps its name from when there was once a

cave that went right under the falls (it has since collapsed). But you still get the chance to get right up close and personal with the falls, and are provided with shoes and plastic overalls for the walk. The walk takes you right along next to the waterfall, and as you can see from one of my pics I got pretty close.

Also went on the ferry ride called Maid of The Mist. This is basically the same trip whether you go from the Canadian side or the US side, and takes you right into the centre of the main part of the falls called the Horse Shoe, so called because of its shape. It is this part of the falls that people have famously and crazily climbed into barrels etc and crashed over the edge, more often and not to there deaths 😞

After walking right around the US side of the falls walked over the bridge next to the falls (cool views of the falls on this bridge though customs had told me not to stop!) to get to Canada!

Canada

It was true, the views from the Canadian side were better, as most

of the falls were on the US side, we were to close to see them properly, where on the Canadian side they were perfect. The weather was nicer on the Canadian side and the whole feel of this side did seem more pleasant than the US side, and even got a rainbow😊 Spent a few hours walking around this side, but was getting really tired as was carry my backpack all this time! By late afternoon was satisfied that I had seen all the impressive Niagara falls had to offer and headed to the bus station to get bus to Toronto which was only 2 hrs away.

Was only doing a whistle stop tour of Toronto, but really wanted to watch a game of Ice Hockey as it is Canada's favourite sport. Found out there was a game on that night in Toronto, the Toronto Maple Leafs vs the New York Islanders. The Maple Leaf's came out 7-1 winners, which was quite could because they apparently lost there previous game by about the same score! The game took on extra significants as Mats Sundin the Maple Leaf captain scored one of the goals and became the teams top ever goal scorer and top points scorer that night. I was lucky to get tickets for this came as it was sold out, and got one off a ticket tout outside 😉

Next day in Toronto went to the CN Tower which is one of the modern wonders of the world, offering Panoramic views of Toronto. As was only spending 1 1/2 days here was recommended the Hockey (Ice) Hall of Fame, where I was able to get my picture taken with the Stanley cup (top club cup in Ice Hockey) and find out that Britain one an Ice Hockey Olympic gold in the 1930's!!

Afterwards again made my way back to the bus station for the 10hr night journey back across the US border to New York, my final destination of my world trip.
