The City of Burlington resides on the North Side of Lake Ontario with many well developed landscapes & homes that surround the shores of Lake Ontario. If you travel along Lake Shore Road & North Shore Blvd, one will find a vast variety of interesting estates & homes!!!

Burlington was at one point known as a vessel destination or a port city. But now the only vessels that venture around the Shores of Burlington are mainly for recreational purposes and all reside out of a small marina located at LaSalle Park in Aldershot. The major landmark for the City of Burlington is the 2.2km long Skyway Bridge, in which separates the Hamilton Harbour/Bay from the rest of Lake Ontario!!!

In the forming of the City of Burlington, many settlers arrived as the result of the American Revolution war, and many immigrants from Europe & the British Isles followed shortly afterwards. In the 1900s, Burlington developed into a very prosperous Farming Community with many mixed farms and cash crops of fruits & vegetables. Over the years the City of Burlington had developed into a highly successful urbanized area that holds many appealing characteristics within a heightened degree of possessing a unique quality of holding many degrees of sophistication for many intriguing life styles!!!

There are a few historical landmarks to note about and are sparsely spread out throughout the City, in which helped in the forming of the City of Burlington, of which we know of today. Here is just a few listings of what Historical Sites the City offers to the viewing eyes of the public. One can find that the Joesph Brant Museum of which is located on North Shore Blvd offers a historical lesson on Joesph Brant, and many exhibits that explore the heritage of Burlington. Joseph Brant was one of the founding fathers of the City of Burlington and his home was turned into a museum, and just sits a few feet from the shores of Lake Ontario. The museum was a replica of the original home of Joseph Brant and was built in the 1800s. This Museum also includes the traditional lifestyles of the Iroquois and the European Settlement within the Region!!!! Then one can find on the North Side of Burlington on Guelph Line, the Ireland House, in which is located on the Oakridge Farm. This House was built in 1835 to 1837 by Joseph & Ruth Ireland and has passed through four generations of hands, within the Ireland family. When one partakes in a visit to this house, one will simply experience a very exciting tour that holds many exhibits, demonstrations and special events throughout the seasons. On tour one will notice all the original artifacts & settings that are keep quite true to the nature of there set time period, of that being from the periods of the 1830s to the 1920s era. One can also partake in a mere leisurely stroll throughout the Historical Streets within the Downtown Core of Burlington, and simply see some of the first homes and buildings that were built within the Burlington area alone, in which some date as far back as the late 1800s. Within the Downtown Core Neighborhood of Burlington on Lake Shore Road, resides a Canadian Naval Ship Memorial Monument located on the grounds of Spencer Smith Park. That dedicates the commemorating Canadian Naval & Merchant Marine Ships, in which served at the time of the World War II. This Memorial Monument honors all the Canadian Ships & all the men that served these Ships during the six years in the Battle of the Atlantic!!! One unique & exquisite neighborhood the City of Burlington holds is The Waterfront. Which resides within the Downtown Core & along the Shores of Lake Ontario, where one can take a relaxing leisurely walk or bike ride or just have a simple day of relaxing in the sun, on a nice warm day & read a book. The City of Burlington has some of the best spots for Hiking, where one can take a leisurely light walk along the Waterfront Trail that surrounds the Northern Shore line of Lake Ontario in Burlington. And for those whom are into a more intense walking scheme & like the endurance of hiking on Nature Trails, within the Great Outdoors scenes. Then The Bruce Trail & the Niagara Escarpment are by far the best Nature Trails within the City of Burlington & the Halton Region alone. No matter what season one decides to take a trip into Nature for a Hike, there is always a magnificent atmosphere filled with the beautifications of nature & many different landscape terrains. The best season probably to go for a Hike would be in the Fall, where the rich fall colors are so vibrant & while walking on these trails, one can walk threw the falling leaves & hear the crunching of leaves under their feet!!!!

The City of Burlington has a very European look to the Downtown Core neighborhood in which is located just on Brant Street & Lake Shore Road. Throughout the seasons of the year one can find lots of Festivities & activities to do amongst the Downtown Core of Burlington at Spencer Smith Park, which is just along the Lake Shore. In the Winter Months, the City gets into the festive season of Christmas by going all out with displays of lights & characters. When walking or driving by at night along Lake Shore Road, its almost like you've entered into a magical dream of a winter wonderland. The Winter Festival is called the Lakeside Festival of Lights, as one travels along Lake Shore Road during the Holiday Season of December, one will be welcomed with a trail of Red Coated Nutcrackers. Within the early months of Summer & the late months of Spring, there is a Music Festival located on the grounds of the Lake Shore in Burlington, and is called the Sound of Music. This Festival is open to all ages & generations for the listening ear of music, in which, one will hear all variations of music & music genres.
