Cabano to Grand Falls via Transcanada Highway 2
Again today there were the huge advertisements about moose...dare I say ...on the loose? Again I am suffering from false advertising ... so where are alll these moose already. Better see more than one this trip and am only coming home afterseeing at least three kinds of whales.Am working out doors and it is hard to read the screen. At least it has recovered ... the screen that is ... from the vigorous cleaning done with Huggies baby wipes yesterday.
Have arrived in New BBrunswick and namely Grand Falls my first stop on THe Great Maritime Adventure (GMA).
Before venturing to find the apparently only open campsite in this area I stopped at the Falls in time to see the ZipLiners do their thing. Its day one of their offer to experience adrenilin rushes as one zips twice over the Falls for 40$ the double Zip!
For me it was enough to see the three amigos test the lines in readiness for this summers trade. " A child has to weigh at least 50lbs if using the ZIp", the red clad Zipper said.
Found my way without difficulty to R**** B**** Camping. The people are very nice and the woman even had a light bulb for sale. Its one of the things I forgot to bring ...that and a pail. No need to leave this little corner of New Brunswick today. Tomorrow I will do the sites.
What a welcoming, funny trio...mother, father and son...all rotund ...all suffering from a flagging work ethic. The father is walking around with his hands in his pockets. All walking slow and the up and down trip on the drive is coveedr by an ATV machine. They have only owned the place for two years. The place was either a junk pile when they bought it (hope they did not pay too much) or they have done little and let it become a mess. Where the permanent RV's are it looks nice.
The ground is still frozen so the toilets and the showers are non-functioning. I am close to one pipe that has running water and I am plugged in to electricity, albeit my extensions are dangling over a hole from which is extruding bits of water sogged insulation. All this for 34.55$/nt.
For
the last 3/4 of hour there was what seemed to be a family reunion of trucks right in front of where I am situated...junk pile, trash can et al.
I am not going anywhere anymore today. Have had lunch. Will have same dinner as yesterday. Will do a walk about and see where the yappy dog lives, read and knit a bit When necessary will use the orange pail with its plastic liner. Good thing I have experience pissing with the wind and shitting into plastic bags ...did I learn that in India ...no !...when the composting toilet at camp/cottage/cabin has been cleaned for the winter necessity is the mother of invention.
There are twenty full season RV's camped herein what looks like a much nicer part of the place. I have the misfortune of needing waterand electricity hook-up. Alsothe original place I contacted is not open yet and she 'recommended I get in touch with this person...thanks a lot!
THe orange pail...no problema...the no shower ... well that's another story. Good thing I bought 26$ worth of baby wipes at Costco ...that should help to this babe clean!
