Riding the Cable Cars. I hope everyone is doing well!? I still need to pinching myself that I'm back in Whistler, seeing I sometimes wonder if I'm dreaming.
So I went and sore my old boss from my first season at Ski School at the Whistler Golf course seeing he does all the Hiring and ended up getting a Job as a Ball Picker at the Driving Range. So basically I'm a moving target that drives a Golf Cart with a metal cage, that when it gets hit sounds like a Fire Cracker going off. I work with a couple of Golf Pro's and after the Range is closed I gerenal go help the guys at the Golf Course was the Carts and close the Course down. As much as I'm taking home $9.85 per hr I'm meeting some fantastic people that I'm hoping to get to know better next Summer. It's pretty funny as well, that there are quite a few Instructors from Ski School that work at the Golf Course that I've not met until now. So "all in all" I'm very happy with the Golf Club and look forward to working there next Summer. I'm going to be layed off from
the Golf Club at some stage this week seeing it closes up on Monday for the winter which is a shame, but also exciting seeing Ski School is just around the corner.
A couple of weeks ago I went on a minny day road trip up to Permberton, which is 30 minutes from Whistler with a friend I meet in Ski School in my first season. We went to Birken Head lake which is at the end of a 30 min drive down a dirt road to a Camping ground. The lake was clear with a reflection of the mountains on the water and the trees around had a yellow ting to them 'which means fall is starting' and we had some cheese and crackers and sat in amazement looking at a lake that's along the lines of Lake Louises travel broucher lake. It was just one of thoses moments where you feel so privilaged to be there at that time and with no one else around it was even better!
So the Snow has started to arrive with light dustings up high on the mountains over the last couple of weeks which is really encouraging, seeing the mountain opens
Seattle
Flight Museum in 7 weeks.
The other week at Work Myself and a workmate were washing the Golf Carts and we had a bear hanging around our area for a couple of hours seeing we were emptying rubbish which food of any kind especially at this time of the year, seeing they are eating as much as possible in preperation for Hybernation. Anyway it got to the stage where it was getting dangerous seeing the bear seemed to appear from nowhere on several ocassions and bears that are hungry will do anything for food. So with a Golf cart someone started chasing the bear away from us around one side of the large Shed when I was slowly walking on the other side, seeing in all the comossion i get seperated from the others. It ended with myself and the bear meeting on the other side looking at each other two metres away from each other and was lucky that the bear got scared and ran up the tree which was seperating us. Thinking about it later it was kinda ammusing but could of got way out of hand so quickly.
Over the last few of weeks I've been chatting to the
Seattle
Air Force 1 at Flight Museum Instructors at the Club and looking on the Net about getting new Skis for training for my level 3 exams coming up next season. So I norrowed it down to one Ski which alot of instructors seeing to have, so really it was a (no brainer) to buy the (Head/ Supershape/ Magnum) in the Pro deals we get threw Ski School, so I pick them up in December sometime which is very exciting!
So in the coming 6-7 weeks I'm going to be not working at all and just training to get everything strong and ready for skiing.
Regards
Mark
