The view from Marilyn & Dave's place...absolutely stunning
I spent the weekend with Marilyn and Dave Humphries in Abbotsford, BC. We have been friends since we arrived in Medicine Hat back in July of 1977. At that time they loaned us pots, pans and dishes, and Marilyn’s car (affectionately known as the “blue bomber.”) We had rented an apartment until we could find something more permanent so our kids spent many hours playing with their kids in their back yard. We also spent our Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas dinners with Marilyn, Dave and Dave’s parents, who became my kids adopted grandparents. They made our move to a new continent a lot easier than it could otherwise have been.
We had a wonderful weekend, filled with catching up, enjoying some great meals and good company. They have a beautiful condo overlooking Mount Baker. On Saturday we headed to Bellingham so that I could get my prescription filled. Then it was on to two really cute little towns(see pics) Sunday was our day in Vancouver, we picked up Marilyn’s oldest sister on the way, walked along side English Bay, went to Granville Island and spent a couple of hours around the huge market there, then to Queen Elizabeth Park, which was

outstanding. Then we went to see the campground I was heading to on Monday morning, which was a great help. I was sorry to leave them but I was anxious to see Allan and family too.
Pacific Border RV Resort turned out to be great, it was located just behind the Canadian Duty Free and I thought it would be quite noisy at night but it wasn’t at all. Al cancelled his usual Monday golf game to come meet me—I appreciated what a sacrifice that was. We picked up my sister-in-law, JoAnne and went to supper at their favorite restaurant. The next week would be filled with activity.

Vancouver has dedicated a lot of pristine area to parks, the climate is just perfect for a whole range of flowers, shrubs and trees. Queen Elizabeth Park is just beautiful. Various areas of the park relate to where those particular plants can be found.
