Shame there wasn't any racing on at the time, but we knew that before we left Australia. The museum was cool as was the track tour
Arrived in Chicago without a hitch, security getting in seemed pretty easy (hmmm). Booked into our motel which which was at the top of the main street and pretty central to the cool stuff. Not much time to spend here but managed to visit the Sears Tower(103 stories), Taste of Chicago Festival and a few other things.
Hired a car and drove from the centre of town down the interstate to Indianapollis. Main purpose here was the visit the "Brickyard" or the Indy Car Race track. No racing was on as it was midweek, but we did look around the Museum and did a track tour. The place is huge and infact hosts 3 holes of a golf course in one section in the middle of the track. From here we hitched the wagons and rolled west to the mighty Mississippi River to a place called St Claire. This place was like going back in time with the old buildings and paddle steamers - we half expected a stage coach to roll in with the mail!.
After a short drive back to Chicago we flew out to Fargo in North Dakota. Mitch, who some may remember was an exchange student that

It was fairly muggy along the river, so was an ideal excuse to dip the pinkies in to cool off.
lived with us a few years back, met us at the airport with his charming new wife Lindsay. Had a ball over the next few days, even though it involved a bit more travelling. We went to Minniapollis to the Mall of America, the largest in the USA. While there we stayed with Linsays cousin Brenda and her hubby Craig - absolutely wonderful people. In fact all the friends and families we met were more than kind to us - just what you need after travelling for so long. Spent the 4th July in Morehead with Lindsays family and attended the fireworks spectacular there. We met Mitch's family and was even given a personal crop tour of the best ever crops in Devil Lake by Dwight, Mitch's dad.
Oh yeah at this point every time we got on a plane we were "privilaged" to get total body and luggage searches. Had locks cut off etc etc. Actually felt more insecure travelling around the USA than anywhere else in the world, as we felt safer when we were able to lock our bags hmmm. Anyway back to the travels, next destination Denver where we did a Rocky Mountains tour and touched

I'm sure some of you know Mitch, he hasn't changed much but has maanaged to score himself a lovely wife Lindsay. The Mall I think is Mitch's favourite place, and he couldn't wait to show us around. We had a great day.
snow for the first time in our lives 😊.
Ok off to Canada where after a quick plane change we ended up in Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories. We hired another car (4x4) and drove on up to Rea Edzo a small Aboriginal community. This is where Morgan Zoe our last exchange student and his family live. We seen Buffalo heards, went boating on the Great Slave Lakes. The craziest thing here was that in never got dark. The sky did dim a bit at about 2 or 3am, but you could still see clearly across the village. We travelled back to Yellowknife for a couple of days and took a Floatplane tour across the tundra, looking at waterfalls, rivers, cabins, housboats etc. Eventually worked our way back to Edmonton where we stayed at the Edmonton Mall Fantasyland Hotel , the largests mall in the world. This place is basically 2 stories high, and it took us a day to do each floor and then I think we may have missed bits. There is an amusement park, ice skating rink, water park with slides, beaches the works. We managed to get out for a day at Fort Edmonton which was

Mitch's dad is one of the proudest farmers we have met. Loves his place and what he does and it was fun checking it all out.
step back into history, steam trains, stage coaches and all.
Finally we made it to Vancouver, our last stop before we head for home tomorrow 😞 . We have so far visited Capilano suspension bridge and taken the cable car to the top of Grouse mountain. Here we seen grizzly bears, wolves and a raptor bird show. The veiw over the city was a bit miserable as we have had our first drizzly day since leaving oz, not bad huh? Through the cloud and mist we did see bits and it was magnificent. Today we are hoping to go on a Killer Whale watching cruise if the weather holds out.
Will let you know in our final summary blog I guess, see you soon.

Our first "Snowman"

Ok so most of you have seen snow, and this was our first time so have a laugh at our expense :). This huge snowman we built measures about 20cm tall. He was left where we made him on top of the Rocky Mountains in Colerado.

It was good to see Morgan again and meet his family. Unfortunately his dad was away at work and we missed him by about 4 days. We did however meet uncle Leon (JR) who surprised us with a gift of a canoe paddle and eagle feather. We also recieved a few other fantastic items that were just awesome.
