This will be the last entry until we get back to Guelph very early on Friday morning as we will be travelling all day tomorrow to catch the plane in Seattle.
The day started well as I got all the laundry done and Amy got her her run before we set off to Whistler. What we had not realised was the road over the mountains was very windy and narrow so took a lot longer than we had anticipated. After a brief stop in Cache Creek (not a memorable place) and at Pemberton (up and coming due to the Winter Olympics in 2010), we arrived in Whistler at 4.00 pm. Amy was too late for a half day mountain biking which looked lethal down a hairy course and hired a bike instead for a tour around the area. Unfortunately she locked the keys of the car IN the boot of the car and so Rich had to spend the rest of our time there waiting for an AA man to release us.
Amy writes- Although I selfishly went biking leaving everyone sorting out my chaos, i did get some great pictures and loved the biking which was very
challenging. I wasn't quite ready for the downhill slope, and Richard said looking at the injuries coming off the downhill bike run I think it was a wise choice. (not that i'd made many wise choices by locking the car keys in the car!!) I can't quite believe the olds have kept up with my hectic schedule, even i was exhausted and they were staying up later than us blogging every night!! It has been a tremendous trip and it was so fantastic to see the West coast at such a beautiful time of year. Now i'm starting to work out how i could come back here to ski someday. Think i might have to start playing the lottery, for whistler prices.
Whistler was impressive as a resort and is now much bigger than when Bob and I came here 13 years ago to ski.
On to Squamish and the Howe Brewing Inn which is opposite the most impressive rock face called The Chief. This rock face is the most popular in Canada with rock climbers coming from all over the world to climb here. There are still climbers bivied out on the face as I write at 11pm!
It is a climbers 'paradise with hundreds of climbs on a 1,700 feet high cliff, accommodation in a brewery and half price pizza in the bar. The food was really excellent. Such a pity we have to leave early tomorrow to get the car back.
Next stop Guelph and then Toronto to see Marta and the children.
Richard writes: I have had just the best time Jaunting with the Jayes - it was a truly awesome 'road trip' and I was made to feel part of the family so thank you for the opportunity of becoming a part of 'Jayes Jaunts - the cowboy years!'

Thankyou
On behalf of Richard's family I would like to thank Amy and her family for taking Richard with them on this wonderful trip. We have been priviledged to read such an interesting and beautiful account of your travels and the pictures have been truly amazing. The photographer is obviously very talented. Thankyou for providing this insight into your trip. I hope we will get to meet you all back home, whenever you are all back together. See you soon Rich. Did you keep that pink T-shirt? Everyone is asking about it!
