At The RegentAt The RegentAt The Regent

Proof positive that Americans can sit thru an entire CFL game without squirming (much).
My buddies, Alan and Cristy, share a passion for pigskin paegentry that transcends political boundaries. Prior to this day the three of us have watched football games in various bars and residences in Mexico. Exclusively NFL. But with A and C's arrival in Canada (drive up from Colorado) this week, and a grey, rainy Revelstoke labour day game on the TV, we had the perfect excuse to hunker down in the Regent Pub in Revy and enjoy the Canadian game. A longer, wider field. Twelve players. Larger end zones. Single point concession. Three downs to make 10 yards. Thus, a game that showcases THE FORWARD PASS and a wide open approach.
Thanks to our rapport with Amy ,the server we'd met the previous day, we were seated in the billiard room with a TV all our own and no interruptions. Cozy as bugs we were! Burgers, bowls of soup and Begbie Kolsch. The game, between Calgary and Edmonton, fell far short of being the "classic" as hyped, but it did serve to create a new precedent in our viewing repetoire. Sharing a bit of Canadian sports culture with my friends. Now, we just have to manage getting together for viewing the

Football as diplomacy
ITs true....... we do have a North American conference for football watching. However, you will note in the photo, that alcoholic beverages were consumed as both an inducement for watching, and as a sedative. Brian is an excellent Host, even tho we are delighted when he dons a jacket to cover up the "Allouttes" shirt. Really, sounds like a chorus line of larks......
