With the prospect of not seeing one another for 4 weeks and my soon to be incarceration into a 5 week training schedule, saw us take the long way to Calgary.
I needed to be in Calgary for July 3rd to start my training with Westjet, so we throw in a mini road trip. We left early on Thursday morning and drove to Kamploops in the BC Interior and then up past Mount Robson and into Jasper National Park. We found a nice room to kip in for the night and went out for some dinner.

The next day we woke to sun. A late brunch of a greasy fry up meant we had fuel for the day ahead. We wandered around Jasper for an hour and then the clouds rolled in - doh!!! Just in time for our ventures to Maligne Lake. Maligne Lake is the second largest glacier fed lake in the world. I visited Jasper about six years ago when my friend Kirsty and I had a road trip to the Rockies. I remembered being to Maligne Lake with her and all the beautiful reflections that the Rockies are famous for. Unfortunately, the rain that fell for

The highest peak in the Rockies at 3954 metres.the next three hours meant that the reflections weren't really forming but the views were amazing never the less.

The drive to Maligne Lake is about an 45 minutes from Jasper. On the way back a crowd had materialised at the side of the road. This means one thing - a beastie. We arrived just as the crowd was dispersing and returning to their cars. I was sad. A man further down the road must have seen my face as he started to beckon me and instructing me to be quiet. I tiptoed down and was rewarded with the sight of a giant elk. He was huge. I was happy once again.

We stopped at another couple of small lakes but the rain eventually deterred us and we started on our fairly long drive to Edmonton.

This wee guy was sitting on the headrest of the driver's seat. When the owner left the car he hopped around and chewed on things.
