Two days to relax in Jasper before we head back to Vancouver and move on to the next chapter of our trip. We rise late and have a leisurely breakfast. Eventually we head into town and head to the Information Centre to see what sort of activities we can enjoy. Lots of things to do, lots of maybe's, and nothing booked. One thing we find at the Information Centre is the location of a Farmers Market that is open today - so off we head. Although not too big there is a great assortment of food and a few crafts - we concentrate on the food picking up some fresh veggies and bread for meals as well as a generous assorment of cakes, pies, brownies and slices - it was just too hard to pick one - and we had earnt the indulgence!
We head over to the supermarket and grab the missing ingredients for lunch and dinner and then head back to the Motel. After lunch we decide to split up - Graeme is off for a White Water Rafting Adventure, Tom and Jeff are off to a local museum and then visit a couple of lakes just north
of town and I head up to the Sky Train to get an elevated look of Jasper and the surrounding mountain ranges. All of us have an enjoyable afternoon and meet up again before dinner. Graeme plays Head Chef and me Sioux Chef as we cook up a chicken curry for dinner and have a few drinks. After that it's a trip to the hot tub to easy our weary bones and then back to the room.
On the second day we decide to do a 50km round-trip ride out to Medicine Lake. It's not that far but is uphill all the way out. We get there in about 90 minutes and there are five bus loads of tourists that come by while we're enjoying the view. They all keep going on to the next Lake (Malaigne) which we are giving a miss. The good thing about the return trip is it is almost all downhill, it's great just being able to point the bike and hang on.
After lunch we make a special trip to the Uniting Church Op Shop for Jeff and Tom and spend about an hour rifling through the treasures. Tom picks up
a Sea Hawks T-Shirt to wear to the game and Jeff and Graeme pick up some bargains as well. As we're leaving Tom picks up his 2nd puncture and a friendly neighbour gives us a tube as we're all out.
Tonight we're doing Happy Hour at the restaurant at the Motel followed by dinner, and then our washing and another spa before pre-packing our gear for a quick get-a-way in the morning. The train leaves at 9:30am and takes 23 hours to get to Vancouver.
This ends the First Chapter of the Amigos Trip to Canada. It truly has been an epic experience with scenery the equal if not better to anything we've ever seen before.
