29 September 2012 We took a three a 3 hour coach trip to see Pamukkale, one of Turkey’s most stunning geological features. It consists of a hillside covered in glistening white travertine terraces with aquamarine pools stepped down the hill. The travertine is the deposit left by warm spar water which runs across it. We were able to join many other tourists walking over it in bare feet and wading through the pools. A unique experience.
On the top of the hill is Heirapolis, the remains of a large early AD settlement which we were also able to walk through.
Before the drive home we had a relaxing afternoon in the spa pools of a local hotel.
