Our first stop in Jordan was the desert castles. The first castle we saw was Qasr-Al-Harrana. According to posted signs it was most likely one of the first inns of the Islamic period. It pays to leave early as we were the first people to have been there. Sara was given the key to the castle which made her queen. There are kids absolutely everywhere selling things and offering rides. This little guy looks to be 5 years old and is running at a high rate of speed on a camel while pulling another one behind him.

Here are some remnant statues made by the romans - they were later destroyed by the local people as being against the teachings of the islamis religion.

We could see bones fossilized in the sandstone.

We came across this rock that looked like an elephant.

We could see through the crack in the canyon a glimpse of what we were about to see - the Treasury.

It is amazing beyond words.

Our guide said these guys deck themselves out like Johny Depp because they think that the girls like them more this way. This guy was NOT the only one. There were many that dressed and looked the same.

Just below the Treasury there are two newly discovered chambers. Most scholars beleive that there are more things to uncover in Petra but seemingly there is no one to do it.

This guy was super proud that I asked him if I could take his picture. Love the outfit!

Half way up the hike to the Monastery, this bedouin woman was selling jewellery.

I met this woman just as I had finished my climb up to the monastery.
