Bahi garden from below
today we left Haifa but first we visited the Bahi gardens the Bahi faith came out of islam but they believe in peace and order they sound similar to budism but with an islam base if that makes sense anyway their gardens are perfect see the pics

we looked over haifa from a vantage point and were told stories about boats with imigrants coming in here when the hagana blew up the british radar (by the way I got it a bit wrong the other day the Palmach were the top soldiers of the haganah not a separate group the other group was irgun.)

then we drove up the coast to the border with lebanon where Rosh-ha-nikra is also located, this as a cavern made by erosion of the sea which we went down a cable car into and also the place where the british dug tunnels to link a train through further north but It was blown up when Israel was fighting with britain about 3 yrs after it was built however it was used to smugle jews into israel from lebanon before 1948 now the tunnel into lebanon has been divided with a concrete wall

the man to see if you want bible instruction
drove back to Acre and looked around the old city markets and then went to a synagoge which is completely covered inside and out with mosaics mostly done by 1 man the Rabi who we met

after lunch we went to the knights hall a large building built by the crusaders this was amazing and was discovered by a prisoner who was trying to escape from the jail built on top.

we learned a lot here about the crusaders they were basicly the army of the pope and were sent to the holy land to free it from the muslims of the time they were successfull only in small areas conquering cities like acre. but they certainly left a mark on the land with their buildings.

we then had the priveledge of going to our guides house for afternoon tea and then to the beach near haifa, the water was warmish but the sand was broken shells and not too nice to walk on and it was a bit rough to swim but we did anyway (we should appreciate our sandy beaches back home)

we are now at a guest house like a bed and breakfast
