mt of olives
its Saturday morning and we had a good sleep so yesterday was great we went early 8am by taxi to the mt of olives where we stayed for some time just trying to find somewhere we could sit down and talk there were bus tours everywhere but eventually we found a spot overlooking Jerusalem and sat together while Steve read the account of Jesus entry into Jerusalem on a donkey when the people wanted to make Him King to the time he was taken by the pharisees and delivered to pilot. it was good to read about the events while looking at the places they took place, Steve had a plan with the temple of Herod overlaid on the temple mount so you could picture in your mind the majesty of that temple much taller than the current building it would have dominated the scene more than the golden dome does today. we tried to imagine how the people could turn so suddenly against Jesus after saying Hosanna to the son of David and welcoming him as a king to saying a few days later crucify him we have no king but Ceasar.

then we walked where Jesus would have ridden the donkey down into the valley and up into jerusalem but we stopped on the way at the Garden of gethsemane where Jesus prayed to His Father Not my will but thine be done,

we then took a detour around the walls on the outside to see the memorial of Absolem and so many tombs to the prophets and jews who want to be raised first when the messiah comes and recalled the words of Jesus condemning the jews for decorating the tombs on the outside but they were full of dead mens bones

we walked up past the city of david and into the dung gate and into the weastern wall plaza but we cant go on the mount until Sunday because of holidays so instead we went to Solomons quarry and had lunch just outside the entry

back to the hotel and sat on the roof resting till 4pm and then the highlight of the day and you may say how could you do better than we already had well we haddnt heard of this place before it is called Gabbatha just a short walk from our hotel through the jaffa gate is a

walk of Jesus triumphant entry
place described as the hidden gate it was built over by the turks but you can clearly see the steps leading right up to the wall it is the entrance to pilates palace the place where Jesus was tried by pilate Jesus would have stood at the top of these steps with pilate looking out at the people who were yelling crucify Him with the flames of the gehennah rubish dump burning behind them if you can picture the scene it is amazing

having had our fill of sprituual food we had pizzas and red wine for tea on the rooftop as we watched the new moon st in the west

today we might go to jerico but now I have to go and have breakfast Im running late.
