Europe, hints, tips and tricks to do it as cheap as possible(July/August)

I am traveling through Europe in July/ August. I plan to take a yoga mat and tent, to sleep where ever i can. I am traveling lite and need to do it as cheap as possible. Is a eurail pass a good idea? I want to go, do and see as much as possible. This is why i want to do it on the cheap.

So please, all information, help, hints and tips from anyone anywhere would be amazing!
