Conwy Conwy Conwy

resting on the town wall walkway
We’re driving through Northern Wales to catch the Irish ferry tomorrow; passing so many sweet little villages. We stopped to have a look at the ruins of a castle but they wanted to charge too much to have a closer look. As we drove through Conwy we noticed a huge castle with the old town surrounded by fortified walls. What a lucky find this town is. We were able to walk along the walls which still run completely around the town. Then we came to the castle and just had to have a look inside. It was fascinating. The town is on a river with a quaint fishing quayside with fishermen tending their crab pots(?) So we sat here and had pies (again) for lunch. We also saw Britain’s smallest house which is two stories but only 10ft by 4 ½ ft.
We’re in Bangor for the night on our way to catch the ferry to Ireland early in the morning. The hostel is great, an old mansion with lovely gardens a little way out of town. It’s ‘Old Boys Day’, some sort of excuse for wandering the streets in fancy dress (or ripped clothing if you are one of the

pissed lads). We’ve decided to eat in, it was noon when we arrived and they were already on their way to being thoroughly smashed. It could get ugly round here soon.
