Woolly says – As the bus pulled away I settled into my seat and along the familiar drive to the airport, it seemed a shame to be leaving Turkey just as the warmth was starting to envelop the country but there’s no rest when your as famous as me. I rechecked the flight tickets....well we all know that Jo is notorious for getting things wrong! I had actually got the times and dates right this time although I managed to loose a day having convinced myself that our flight was a Wednesday when it was actually a Tuesday, I hadn’t told the mammoth taking the view that I didn’t need to hear him laughing at my dyslexic traits once again. Woolly says – Having supervised the unloading of the suitcases I trotted over check the departures board where it appeared that we were going to be in the airport longer than anticipated due to a delay, plenty of time for snacks at least. As we finally slumped into our seats a mere hour and a half late I bought up the possible problem of missing our connecting trains, Zoe checked the times and seemed happy that we could still make it ..... we didn’t. As the pilot announced that a fire had broken out at Manchester airport and we were going to have to land elsewhere I sighed, looked at the women and wondered if there was any further sustenance in Jo’s bag, it was going to be a long night.
I sat wondering if they might let us off at the alternative airport as it was much closer to our destination! Woolly says – as the minutes passed the tannoy crackled once more and informed us that although we had been circling the East Midlands we had now been given clearance for our original airport and that we would be arriving in half an hour, the girls glanced at their watches and each other, I suggested a snack might be in order but as always my needs were ignored. The plane doors opened and I galloped through the airport, the minutes were going far too quickly and once our luggage had been collected it appeared that plan b was going into operation. Our choice’s ..... to sit in Manchester until 6am for the first train or take a coach which would drop us off around 9 miles from our destination and keep fingers and paws crossed that there would be a connecting bus..... with the cold starting to numb us completely and my small friend shivering and whimpering we decided that at least the bus might be warm.
Woolly says – It wasn’t! But at least the hour and a half trip passed quickly and as we pulled into Wolverhampton I wondered how Jo was going to get us to our old home town when the bus station was clearly closed. Two hotels later and it appeared that I was going to be allowed three hours sleep before the final leg. As the sun rose and we continued to yawn there was nothing better than to be able to knock on the door of Hannah and Andy’s flat door to be greeted with huge hugs and piping hot tea. Hannah has been a part of our lives since Zoe started school many decades ago and having shown us round she left to head to work and for us to sort ourselves out. The week seemed to fly past as we caught up with friends, consumed curries and were finally able to sort out our own transport.
Woolly says – Jo seemed to take to the driving role quite well and having only driven on the wrong side of the road twice I felt that she might just make it to our next short stop in the south. It was wonderful to see Nanty Carys and Nuncle Les and to be reacquainted with many of our possessions that they had kindly stored for us, it would have been even better if Zoe hadn’t left her phone at Hannah’s which now meant driving back to the Midlands before finally getting to my old stomping ground of Aberystwyth.... it was a long day and luckily for the women I had just managed to eek out my snacks to coincide with our arrival. Having listened to him moan for over 6 hours it was wonderful to hand him over to one of our old work colleagues, Kyle, and sit back to enjoy the starlings flying overhead and catch up on all the news and gossip from our friends. Woolly says – Why does the time pass so quickly when I’m enjoying myself, walks along the seafront, a quick trip into the museum that I had enjoyed previously when we were here nearly three years ago
First Steps in a New Adventure and that Zoe in her four years in the town had not managed to visit, followed by a wander round the castle and our days were drawing to a close. Drinks and yet more curries (it’s been a long time since I have had the delights of a British Curry and I’m sure that my tusks won’t remain yellow for long!) allowed my fans to swoon over me and listen adoringly to the tales of my adventures, whether they wanted to or not. Our last night arrived and with the bags ready for the morning the start of our next big adventure was upon us, I wonder what that might hold, how will Jo and Zoe take to working under my fair but firm paw again and will my order of pistachio’s have arrived and be waiting for my arrival! Get ready South Wales the mammoth is on his way.

Old castle
Does this castle have an exotic name Jo or is it named Aberyswyth after the town?
