We had another day in Edinburgh today. We started the day at McDonalds yet again to use their free Internet and by 12pm we realised we should probably get some breakfast, well we ended up having brunch because we couldn't find anywhere selling breakfast.
Today was called 'Open Doors day' where some of the local attractions that you usually have to pay for are free but we didn't see anything that took our fancy so we decided to go for a tour of The Royal Yacht, Britannia (which is yet another vacation venue for the Queen and Royal family). It is about the size of a cargo ship but is actually a vacation boat for the Queen that was decommissioned in 2007. We saw that the Queen and Philip do not share a room (although they were joined with a door) and slept in very small single beds. Around the walls of the boat there were a lot of photos of the Royal children (like Princess Anne, Prince Charles, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward) growing up which was quite cool because I have never seen pictures of the royal children growing up before. It was also quite strange in that all the photos of the wider family (where Eugene and Beatrice were born) often did not have Princess Diana in them but the boys and Prince Charles were in them. Britannia is the only yacht that doesn't have a name printed on the side of it. Britannia was attached to a mall so after spending about 3 hours touring the boat we spent a while in the mall where Steve parked his butt in the middle and used the free Internet and I shopped and Nicole did a bit of both! But before you roll your eyes may I just say that I was on a mission to find an 'overnight/weekend' bag and I did find one! It was a great bargain! Usually £30 and I paid £12! I now have room to buy more stuff! Hehe
We had dinner at a restaurant in the mall because it sells Sunday Roasts. We went to order and he was told that 'Unfortunately we only have chicken roasts', well Steve was ok with that but was then told 10 minutes later 'I'm sorry sir but we have also run out of chicken roasts'... well he was getting close to tears by then (Mum C – I think Steve is really missing your Sunday roasts!) and had to settle with lasagne! I had tikka masala which was yummy too!
After tea we drove back to our hotel and stayed in for the rest of the night... boring I know!
By the way Mum – We were watching a sermon online tonight and heard Mr Feitje had died, that is sad. How is Oma?
Lots of love,
Danielle
