A couple of other pics from October & November.

We had a Hallowe'en party for the children on base. J went as a dragon in a cunningly converted bath towel. He was a little overwhelmed by all the noise and bigger kids, but still looked cute!

He also went on his first political rally! Right on! 7,000 people marched in support of keeping the base open.

Some other random trivia while I'm here.

His favourite reading material at the moment is 'Smallholder Magazine'! We have a half dozen back copies from a car boot sale, which he is obsessed with right now! They have a lot of pictures of farm animals which he loves to point out to us using his baby signing. A repeated poking at the side of his head means 'cow'. Pressing his nose is 'pig'. Swiping back and forth above his ear is 'sheep'. Strangely he has no interest in chickens, doesn't bother to point them out, although he's fascinated by the real things in the garden.

His absolute favourite things are dogs, in fact that was his third word, after Dada and Mama. He can spot a dog a mile off,
A fearsome dragon!A fearsome dragon!A fearsome dragon!

Go on... say it... 'and her little boy'!
and even if you can't see it yourself you have to believe him, because he's always right, sooner or later a dog will appear out of the dunes in the distance, or you'll see the tiny image of a puppy on a shampoo bottle in the bath, or on a book in the far corner of the library! Up close he's not so certain, since they're relatively big in real life, friends of ours have a very friendly black lab, but for a small boy, being the same height as a big wet nose and licky tongue is a bit unsettling!

16 months is such a lovely age, his cheeky personality is really showing through. He's very affectionate, gives lovely cuddles and kisses (although they're usually slobbery and snotty ones)! He can be quite shy in groups, although does come out of his shell eventually. He's pretty laidback, if another child takes his toy (which happens a lot much to Mummy's annoyance!) he's quite philosophical about just getting on with something else. And it seems we are already embarassing him - at this age! Particularly when we sing or dance, he just cringes and tries to get us to stop! Probably says more about us than him!

But at 16months we're also starting to see the odd tantrum, anything from shutting a stair gate to putting his coat on can have him howling in frustrated rage which can be quite trying. Apparently another phase which will pass I'm told!

Overall though he's just a happy wee chappy, always has been really. So long as he's rested and well fed then not much bothers him for long, he definitely takes after his Dad there. He's such a joy to be with, he finds the smallest things fascinating and some of the expressions that cross his face when for example he accidentally turns on a torch or reveals himself after a frankly rubbish attempt at hiding are just priceless! I'm always learning from him, I feel like I'm a better person for being around him. Enough Mummy sentimentality, enjoy the pics! x
