Our small band of travelers arise and depart our hotel for King's Cross Station to travel to Edinburgh to begin our tour. The train ride to a little over 5 hours but was very pleasant with all of us sharing food snacks purchased - fruits, nuts, candy, cookies/biscuits and even mini scones with clotted cream. We arrive at Waverly Station and are transported to our hotel in Edinburgh city center. The city is teaming with people the reason being the Fringe Festival. The city grows by over 1 million people during the festival. We meet the rest of our tour group and enjoy a delicious meal and a local Italian restaurant, returning to the hotel to rest up for tomorrow's city tour and excursions.
It seems auspicious that I should arrive in Scotland on this date as it is the annual (170th) Highland Games in Livonia sponsored by the St. Andrew's Society. I am sure the family members in Michigan are having an enjoyable time.
