Visited Scotland for the weekend and stayed in Edinburgh, the capitol of the Scottish lowlands the first night. Scotland has always placed a high value on education and is the first place to offer public education and the University is still free for Scottish students. The city was very influential during the enlightenment and earned the nickname, Athens of the North.

The city developed up around its castle, and so boasted the world's first 'skyscrapers' at 14 stories. The top floors were made of wood and were connected by ladders on the top floors.
