After eight hour ride from London, we arrived in Edinburgh around 6:30 in the morning. As soon as we went out to the street of Edinburgh, we were approached by a weird old guy offering us place to stay. I would say go ahead and stayed over his place, but the Hardy boys were not so convinced. The guy, Mr. Gordon, cramped all three of us, and three other youngsters about our age into his little vehicle, and he drove to his home, supposed to be an unregistered hostel. A very good way to start our journey in Edinburgh.
Other than Mr. Gordon approach, I was impressed with the city; almost every building we saw was made of stone, but so black and dirty. Mr. Gordon explained how the residue of decades of coal burning polluted the city, but fortunately, time has changed the heating system into a more efficient way: electricity.
Meanwhile, we had no idea on what to see in Edinburgh, but we were somewhat trapped inside Mr. Gordon’s house. His home was closed to the school, according to him, where Sean Connery went to school. But obviously the Hardy boys were scared and felt so uncomfortable,
Magnificent Mile
I managed to rest on a Magnificent Mile bollard. so before we went out for sightseeing, we locked our belongings a pile, and using Ryan’s lock to connect them all.
Mr. Gordon drove us to the Magnificent Mile, where we signed up for the Highland Trip for the next day. After that, we tried to shake him off, since he was somewhat insisted to show us around. So he dropped us off at the Train Station, where we started our journey without any help.
We walked around the city, and went to the Magnificent Mile, hiking up to the Castle. Too bad we didn't have time to check out the castle, but we managed to see this hill, over looking Edinburgh.
We decided to chill, and because we were still tired from the travel we have done the night before, we took nap in a public park, on the grass. We woke up about one hour later, fresh and ready to look around more.
I liked the Scottish accent, it sounded so dark and low. I wished I could speak with their accent, it would be cool. We went to Hard Rock Café Edinburgh for dinner, and we met a Canadian working as our waiter,
Edinburgh stone
Coal residu has been accumulating on most Edinburgh structures. and he was so glad to see us North Americans. It was funny to see him so excited to see us there, but then I realized that we hadn’t really bumped into someone from North America here in Edinburgh.
We had to give it a shot the Scottish pub. When we found one, we were so excited to try a local beer, and then we realized that we were at "the End of the World". Literally, this is the name of the neighborhood, supposedly the ancient people would be scared to go outside the safely world of Edinburgh, and the neighborhood was the edge of their world. World?
Then we headed back to Mr. Gordon’s place to rest for the night.
