Well Easter's arrived, I've survived a Scottish winter. Despite being repeatedly told it was a very very mild winter, I felt sufficiently cold enough to require wearing an entire wardrobe of clothes a day.
With the weather warming, forecast looking promising Anna, Fergus and myself decided to head to highlands for an Easter camping break. Upon making this decision there was a rapid purchase of tent, camping stove, sleeping bag and inflatable mattress…..kneel and pray to the ebay Gods!
We set of on Saturday after a brief stay in Stirling, heading toward an increasingly dark cloud, which apparently was exclusively extended over Arisaig, west coast of Scotland, on the Road to the Isles.
Set up our sparkling blue tent, glad that despite being a 4 person tent, there was only two of us a dog. We got all sorted, took Fergus for a walk on the beach, got a little frightened over the lack of a flushing toilet and chatted with other luxurious caravan owners. These people were rather nippy to be honest, but were very into Fergus’s speedy sand skids and dog chasing ability.
That night was spent eating 5 star pasta and stir-through sauce made on the oh so snazzy camp stove, whilst sitting on the luxurious soft and squishy ground.
The wind picked up in the night and we awoke to rain and plummeting temperatures, after a bit of organisation, lunch making, breakfast eating we went off on the walk, combining beach walks with bouldering. Fergus proved himself quite the climber, showing off at all opportunities. There was one rather risky move he made, ended up hanging off a rock ledge with his two front paws, hauling himself up with a determined look on his face, a bit like Sylvester Stallone in Cliffhanger
All in all, was a great weekend, just a shame about the weather
